Sugar Glider Owner's Survey
Currently the Gliders @ UNSW Research Team is collating and analysing the results of our recent survey of the experiences of Sugar Glider owners. This survey covered many aspects of Sugar Glider ownership, including:
  • caring for Sugar Gliders;
  • health and veterinary problems that owners have encountered;
  • how people house their Sugar Gliders; and
  • how suitable they found Sugar Gliders as pets.

Perceptions of Sugar Gliders as Pets

One of the questions asked in our recent questionnaire related to the perceptions of Sugar Gliders as pets. Sugar Glider owners were asked to rate each of eleven characteristics about their pets on a scale from "Very Favourable" to "Very Unfavourable."

We found that carers found the asethetic appeal, companionship and playfulness of Sugar Gliders to be the most favourable characteristics of owning Sugar Gliders. The graph below sums up our results on this question, show the mean response for each question, and error bars to represent the variationin answers to each.

Stand tuned as our full results should be published soon.
